2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

First,Proverbs 22:6 tells us to “train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” For all children, the way they should go is toward God. Teaching children in God’s Word is crucial for all children, who must understand who God is and how to best serve Him. With the strong-willed child, understanding what motivates him—the desire for control—will go a long way to helping him find his “way.” The rebellious child is one who must understand that he is not in charge of the world—God is—and that he simply must do things God’s way. This requires parents to be absolutely convinced of this truth and to live accordingly. A parent who is himself in rebellion against God may not be able to convince his child to be submissive.

The Bible also says for children to obey their parents and respect their parents.  I believe this is true while they are living in  their parent's home.  After that, I believe they will have to deal with God in regards to any rebellious attitude in their life.  Children are never to control their own parents or grandparents.

I am reading Sarah Palin's book "Going Rogue".  She talks about a time when she was being accused of ethical violations.  People who saw her as their enemy were attacking her reputation and harming her ability to govern as she should.  The attack become so intense that she considered quitting her position as governor.  But her son who was serving in the military told her she should not give up.  He told her he was praying for her.  She asked him to fast and pray for a day, to gain the will of God in the situation.  That is wonderful advise for all of us when we are going through any  kind of suffering.
My daughter, Alicia and I went for a hike.
 I am getting in shape to do more hiking!

February 24, 2013.
I am enjoying spending more time with my daughters now that they have their own homes.

Something I am learning now has to do with the great commandment.

Mark 12
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.”

Seems that we need to learn to love ourselves and understand how much God loves us in order to love our neighbors.  This doesn't mean we need to be self-centered, but if we understand who we are in Christ, we are better able to love others with the same type of love that he has shown us.

We will never do everything perfectly, but we can be assured that God loves us unconditionally.
